Schools receive guitars as part of Junos performance series

With the Junos only a week away, the We Speak Music Performance Series kicked off Saturday at The Forks market. Several young musicians displayed their skills in front of an audience at The Forks.

The series focuses on promoting schools and community-based groups dedicated to creating the musicians of the future. As part of the initiative, two school received Gibson Les Paul Signature “T” electric guitars.

"We don't have a guitar at our school, it's broken, so now we have a guitar,” said Brigitte Girouard, music teacher at École Henri-Bergeron.“Not only a guitar, but a very nice one, so I think it'll be very inspiring."

The St. Boniface school is one of the two schools to receive a guitar. St. John Brebeuf School in River Heights also received a guitar.
