Eight people were sent to hospital following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 59 late Saturday morning.
RCMP said it happened around 11:30 a.m. near Scanterbury, Man., which is about 70 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.
Police said an initial investigation revealed that a Jeep drifted into oncoming traffic, colliding with a pickup truck.
The driver of the Jeep, a 27-year-old man, along with his passengers, two men and an 11-year-old boy from Winnipeg, were rushed to hospital with a variety of injuries.
All four occupants of the pickup truck were also taken to hospital. A female youth was transported in serious condition.
Alcohol is not a factor in the crash, and it appears everyone was wearing a seatbelt, said RCMP.
Charges are pending against the driver of the Jeep.
Police are continuing to investigate.
