Two snow leopard cubs on display at the Assiniboine Park Zoo now have names.

The cubs went on display at the zoo last week, and the facility held a poll for the public to vote on potential names.

“The names that received the highest votes were Yuki and Kang. Yuki is a Japanese name and Kang is Tibetan in origin, both meaning ‘snow,’ said the zoo.

“I can’t think of a better way to name the cubs than with the help of the community,” said Gary Lunsford, general curator at Assiniboine Park Zoo, in a statement. “They’re a wonderful addition to our zoo family and I know our visitors are going to love them.”

The cubs were born at the zoo in May.
