Northern Ontario's Brad Jacobs wins the Canadian men's curling championship.

His team from Sault Ste. Marie downed Manitoba's Jeff Stoughton 11-4 in Sunday's final at the Tim Hortons Brier.

It's the first Canadian championship for a Northern Ontario team since Al Hackner won it in 1985, which was the year Jacobs was born.

Jacobs, third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden and lead Ryan Harnden will represent Canada at the men's world curling championships next month in Victoria.

They stole three points in the first two ends and then scored three in the fourth to lead 6-2 and take control of the final.

Ontario's Glenn Howard beat Brad Gushue of Newfoundland and Labrador 7-6 in an extra end for the bronze medal.
