Renovations to the Transcona Kinsmen Centennial Pool are moving forward as planned, with the reopening planned for 2017.
The City of Winnipeg said a major component of the construction involves converting the existing outdoor pool into an outdoor aquatic park facility.
It said most of this work will be completed this fall, including excavation, piles, concrete, spray features and mechanical and electrical work.
Other features being renovated are the new beach entry with spray features, a four-slide water slide feature with landing pool, diving boards, seating areas and landscaping.
Work is also underway on the new outdoor pool building, approximately 3000 square feet, which features updated change rooms.
Construction is set to be completed by the end of June 2017. The grand opening of the new outdoor faculty is scheduled for Canada Day 2017.
