Eight people are facing charges tonight following an RCMP drug bust in Oakbank.

Police in Oakbank, 15 kilometers east of Winnipeg, started targeting the drug trade in the area back in November.

The operation, called Project DECAL, was looking into trafficking of cocaine and illegal counterfeit pills.

The investigation led officers to a home in the area yesterday, where drugs and items used in drug trafficking were found.

Eight people, ranging in age from 19 to 54, are facing more than 30 combined charges.

Police sent out a reminder that counterfeit OxyContin pills containing fentanyl have been linked to several deaths across Canada.
