If Canadians were faced with voting for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton to run the country, the majority would vote for Clinton.

According to a new Mainstreet/Postmedia poll, Canadians would overwhelmingly vote Clinton. While the majority of Manitobans would also elect Clinton, Manitoba is the province that shows the least support for the candidate.

Roughly 55 per cent of Manitobans surveyed said they would vote for Clinton. Nationally, roughly 70 per cent of those surveyed would.

The poll also revealed if Donald Trump was elected, only a small amount of Canadians would want to ease immigration regulations to help Americans move north. Of those surveyed, 77 per cent of Manitobans would want to keep immigration as is. Only 8 per cent would want to ease regulations for our southern neighbours.

In a release, President of Mainstreet Research, Quito Maggi said, “This election has been quite divisive south of the border and many Manitobans are anxious about the outcome on Tuesday. At stake are numerous international agreements, including NAFTA, TPP and the Paris Climate Accord. Other important economic implications including pipeline development will hinge on the outcome.”

The Manitoba margin of error for the National poll is +/- 4.38 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
