New Year, new fare prices for transit users

It’s the annual bump in price for those who board the bus.

On Jan. 1, increases to Winnipeg Transit and handi-transit fare will take effect.

The city says the price hikes are based on inflation rates to fund operations.

Up five cents from 2015, the new full and handi-transit cash fares will be $2.65. Reduced and senior cash fares will be $2.15.

New rates for tickets and passes will also be in effect Jan. 1.

Bus users can use current transit fares until Dec. 31 and 2015 bus tickets, with applicable cash difference, until Mar. 31, 2016.
