Video footage of a near collision on Highway 9 has helped identify the driver involved.

Selkirk RCMP have ticketed a 65-year-old man for careless driving.

The incident happened March 14 between Selkirk and Gimli, and was caught on camera by a Go Pro mounted to Ryan Evans' motorcycle.

Evans was heading out for his first ride of the season and had set up the camera to capture scenic shots.

Instead, Evans and his Go Pro witnessed an oncoming car cut into his lane as the driver passed a truck and trailer.

The collision was a near miss and Evans handed over the footage to RCMP. He also shared the video on social media to help raise awareness about driving safety.

Manitoba Public Insurance said motorcycles are involved in an average of 220 collisions each year.
