RCMP need public assistance in unsolved homicide investigation from 1998

RCMP and Winnipeg police officers involved in Project Devote have turned to the public for help in identifying possible persons of interest in a homicide from 1998.

On Tuesday, officers revealed five composite sketches as well as information on a vehicle, a white mid-1980s four-door sedan, in connection to the murder of Tania Marsden who was last seen alive on her 18th birthday.

“We believe that identifying the individuals in the sketches could help lead us to Tania’s killer,” Sgt. Shawn Pike, a Project Devote team commander, said in a release. “Tania deserves justice. Her family deserves an answer. Please call us with any information.”

Police said that on Nov. 15, investigators executed a search warrant at 865 Selkirk Ave. in relation to Marsden’s murder.

Pike said there appears to be some connection between Marsden and the five persons of interest, but couldn't specify if they knew her, or were with her on the last night she was seen alive.

"There was some interaction with Tania Marsden," said Pike.

He said a white 1980s four-door sedan came up in their investigation with the five persons of interest.

Officers are asking anyone with information to call the Project Devote tip line at 1-888-673-3316.

Pike said the drawings represent the people as they would have looked 20 years ago. Police need help identifying the people in the drawings.
