A proposed condo development behind a church in Charleswood has been rejected.
Following a six-hour hearing at city hall Tuesday night, two area councillors on the Assiniboia Community Committee voted against the project.
The proposal called for a 64-unit life-lease condo and masonic lodge to go up behind the Charleswood United Church, at Roblin Boulevard and Dieppe Road.
People living in the area say the plan doesn't fit with the character of the neighbourhood, which is largely made up of single family homes.
The plan is not dead yet. It now goes to another committee for another vote.
