A neighbour who lives across the street from a home built by Iris and Guido Amsel in St. Clements recalls the night he was awoken by a loud blast at 3:00 a.m.
David Kane says the sound brought him out of his Nicholas Street house in the middle of the night in late 2013 to investigate.
Kane said the sound of the blast was so loud, he checked his own home, several dozen metres away from the site, for damage.
Kane said a couple of days later, he saw an RCMP bomb unit at the Amsel house.
Kane said Iris and Guido Amsel built the house together in the early 1990s but Guido hasn't lived there in many years since the couple got divorced.
Manitoba RCMP confirm members attended to a home on Nicholas Street on December 13, 2013 in response to a report of mischief where property was damaged.
RCMP said the investigation is ongoing.
On Sunday, police in Winnipeg charged 49-year-old Guido Amsel in relation to an investigation into bombs sent through the mail in Winnipeg.
One of them was addressed to Iris Amsel, and two others were sent to different Winnipeg law firms.
Family lawyer Maria Mitousis, 38, who represented Iris Amsel in a lawsuit against her ex-husband, suffered life-altering injuries when one of the packages detonated in her office.
Police were able to safely detonate the other two without further injuries.
