A woman from near Richer Manitoba, about an hour southeast of Winnipeg, had a big scare when she found her missing dog, Boomer, badly injured in a ditch.

“Thankfully he was still alive and he was in pain and he was scared, but it couldn’t have been more than 20 minutes since I let him out,” said Nichole Sanduliak, Boomer’s owner.

She said Boomer was the victim of a hit and run just over a week ago and it left him with a broken leg and a dislocated hip.

Sanduliak has already spent about $3,000 dollars on Boomer’s recovery. She said that money covered the cost of one surgery and care for a week.

She said vets determined nerve damage is preventing the dog from moving his back legs and has left him paralyzed.

Sanduliak realized that she wouldn’t be able to provide care for Boomer on her own.

A friend of hers started a GoFundMe page on their behalf and it has raised over $1,300 so far.

Sanduliak said she is very thankful for the money they have raised as it will help cover medical costs.

She hopes to raise enough money to help Boomer get a wheelchair, a cost she expects to be close to $1,000.
