Winnipeg police say a 22-year-old man was tracked down by the K9 Unit early Sunday morning after allegedly vandalizing a vehicle and smashing a house window.

"If you just smash a [vehicle] window it's mischief," says Const. Rob Carver with the Winnipeg Police Service. "It's much more significant that he was doing this to a residence."

According to police, witnesses saw the man walk down the street on the 500-block of Paulfeld Drive with a baseball bat and axe, vandalizing as he went. Police say the K9 Unit tracked the suspect for over an hour before locating a 22-year-old man.

Police say he's now facing several charges including possession of a dangerous weapon, break and enter and breach of parole.
