Winnipeg's Osborne Village has captured an award for Canada's best neighbourhood in 2012.
There were 23 nominations for the best neighbourhoods category.
A panel of Canadian planners chose Osborne Village ahead of entries from Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa as the best place to live, work and play.
"It's a concept that we as planners would call a complete community for example and so it's a community that offers a range of choices for people," said Lisa Holochuk from the Canadian Institute of Planners.
The institute said neighbourhoods were judged on a number of criteria, such as its accessibility by different modes of transportation and its reflection of local culture, history and landscape.
