A well-known Winnipeg restaurant is serving its last meal this weekend.

On Sunday, the Shanghai restaurant in Chinatown will close its doors for good after 60 years in business.

Some long-time patrons went by the restaurant Friday to enjoy their last meal there.

Loni Gooding remembered getting food from the restaurant delivered by taxi, before the restaurant had its own delivery service.

"I'll be sad next month when I'm craving it again and it won't be here," Gooding said.

Owner Henry Lee said that after working in the restaurant since the 1940s, it was time to retire.

Last month, the city gave the green light to demolish the restaurant to make way for a seniors' home.

The building is more than 100-years old.
