The anticipation was building just hours before legendary rock band U2 was scheduled to the hit the stage at Winnipeg's Canad Inns Stadium. Hundreds of people were lined up outside the stadium, some for days, in hopes of getting the best spot on the floor for Sunday night's concert.
"This is the best band in the world," said Mark Baker as he stood in line. "These are the best people to be around. It's a phenomenal experience."
As thousands of Winnipeggers welcomed the rock stars into Winnipeg this week they were joined by dozens who had traveled for thousands of kilometers to see the show.
"U2 doesn't have a plan to come to Japan," said Makiko Tamai who traveled from Tokyo to see U2. "So I came to Winnipeg [just] for the U2 concert."
About 50,000 people attended the concert Sunday night.
