Artwork created by local kids is being used to give newcomers a warm welcome to Winnipeg.
Art City has released a Winter Enjoyment Guide. It’s aimed at giving kids coming to Canada ideas on how best to experience Winnipeg winters. It includes indoor and outdoor activities, information on how to build a snowman, snow safety tips and sledding etiquette.
Art City participants contributed drawings to the guide while learning more about the Syrian refugee crisis.
Art supply care packages are also being included with the guides. They are being distributed to newcomer agencies across the city. The guides have also been translated into Arabic and Somali.
The guides are being distributed until March 4.
