Winnipeg drivers have to fork out a few more bucks to fill up their vehicles.

Most gas stations are charging $1.359 a litre for regular fuel.

It's the second time prices have increased in a week. Last Thursday the price rose to $1.28 per litre.

According to website Tomorrow's Gas Price Today, prices in Winnipeg are 14 cents higher than this time last year.

Transportation Economist Barry Prentice said in an open market, prices do go up and down.

The University of Manitoba professor said the increase is likely due to a combination of events. Prentice said when the Canadian dollar goes down in value we can expect gas prices to increase.

A shortage at refineries could also be to blame. Driver demand also plays a part because inventories go down.

Prentice said Manitoba drivers should expect to see prices drop in about a week. But prices will remain high through the summer.
