RCMP are investigating after a man died in a head-on collision on Highway 59.

At 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, officers responded to a crash near Patricia Beach and closed the highway for several hours.

Investigators believe the car traveling south collided with an on-coming lumber truck.

The 30-year-old man driving the car was pronounced dead on scene.

The 39-year-old driver of the truck went to hospital in stable condition.

Officials say the driver of the car was attempting to pass on a solid line when it was unsafe to do so.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor and police are continuing to investigate.
