Parents at Bonnycastle School are concerned their school is bursting at the seams. Now, the Pembina Trails School Board set up an advisory committee Thursday night to deal with the problem.

“We are looking at further involvement of a parent advisory, to advise us on decisions that are being considered,” said Lawrence Lussier, superintendent of education for Pembina Trails.

Parents have voiced concerns that enrolment at Bonnycastle is skyrocketing as nearby Waverley West grows. There's been talk of bussing Grade 5 French immersion students to other schools.

Parents say the school division is playing catch-up. “They need to really make their timelines, you know?” said Patrick Visser. “Like I was saying 2009, 2010, 11, this timeline has kept rolling on. There's been a fair bit of inaction."

The division is building an expansion at Bonnycastle School, expected to be complete in 2015.
