A Winnipeg man celebrating his 100th birthday only had one regret, but not anymore.
On his 100th birthday on Thursday, May 15, Leo Flood fulfilled his dream and received his high school diploma.
He enrolled at St. Paul's High School in 1928 but had to leave early to help his family during the depression.
Leo had 12 brothers and sisters. He and his wife Lyla raised eight children of their own, and several foster kids.
He's not sure if there's really a secret to a long life.
"I just lived and worked. That's it. If you wanted a load of cord wood I'd bring it to you," he said.
As well as hauling wood, Leo worked as a farm hand, laundry manager and ladies underwear salesman.
On the same day he got his diploma he also published his first book, “Shy Boy From Lost Horse Hills.”
The story of his first 28 years of life is available at McNally Robinson.
