A disgraced ex-Liberal candidate is weighing in on the controversy surrounding NDP candidate Wab Kinew.
In a Facebook post, Jamie Hall posted his thoughts on NDP Fort Rouge candidate Wab Kinew staying in the race despite taking heat for comments he made about women, homosexuals and indigenous people.
Hall -- who ran under the Liberal banner, dropped out of the race for Southdale under accusations of misogyny after the NDP resurfaced old tweets.
“Tons of press trying to get my comments about the Wab Kinew presser. No comment, but on social media I'll say something,” Hall wrote in the post.
He goes on to compare himself to Kinew, stating that they both produced works of art, promoted them, and made crude jokes.
“When I resigned it was not because I got caught… It was because I have respect for Manitobans and know they wanted me to.”
Indigenous members of the Liberal party demanded Kinew’s resignation on Friday.
Premier Greg Selinger said Kinew’s apologies were sincere and the NDP stands by Kinew as a candidate.
The NDP demanded Hall’s resignation after unearthing tweets over the years in which Hall used terms such as "whore" and "skank." He stepped down last March 3.

“Tons of press trying to get my comments about the Wab Kinew presser. No comment, but on social media I'll say something. What could possibly go wrong?
He wrote music echoing his beliefs.
I wrote a fictional book.
We both promoted our work.
He put out crude humour.
I put out crude humour.
We both apologized when people were offended.
He mocked the people he advocated for.
I ... I've got nothing.
When I resigned it was not because I got caught. The tweets were there and I won't hide who I am. It was because I have respect for Manitobans and know they wanted me to. That's what government is supposed to do. What the people say. Today, Manitoba, your government failed you.”
