The forecast is calling for warming temperatures over the weekend, and for Winnipeg roads, that means more potholes.

The city says potholes appear when daytime temperature highs are above zero and overnight lows are below zero.

On cold winter days, pothole patching is done by hand with an asphalt product that is designed to be more pliable.

But as temperatures rise, the city will be ramping up its pothole patching operations.

On average, up to 12 crews will be working on fixing potholes daily, along with six road patchers.

You can report potholes by calling 311.
