A 20 year-old man was killed when the ATV he was driving collided with a police truck on the Shamattawa First Nation.
The ATV had two 13-year-old passengers on it. They were both injured when they were thrown from the ATV. They have been flown to hospitals outside the community with non-life threatening injuries. RCMP say they are expected to make a full recovery.
RCMP report that on Monday at around 5:30 p.m. the man driving the ATV tried to pass the constable's truck on the right side while they were both driving down Caribou Road.
The driver died of his injuries at the local nursing station about 20 minutes later.
The driver and the two passengers were not wearing helmets at the time of the collision, according to police.
Police also say alcohol is not believed to be a factor but lab results are still not complete. The autopsy will be performed this week in Winnipeg.
The man's name has not been released.
Shamattawa is an isolated community in northeastern Manitoba.
