WINNIPEG - Wade Miller is the new president and chief executive officer of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

He has served as acting CEO for the last three months after replacing Garth Buchko, who was fired along with general manager Joe Mack.

Board chairman Brock Bulbuck says Miller has proven himself to be a strong, progressive leader with the right combination of football and business experience to succeed in the role.

Miller appeared in 167 career games over 11 seasons with Winnipeg.

He is the franchise leader in special-teams tackles with 184 and is a member of the team's Hall of Fame.

The Blue Bombers missed the playoffs this year after finishing last in the East Division with a 3-15 record.
