Some major changes are in the works for City of Winnipeg libraries. Eight facilities are slated to be replaced.
One of them is the Charleswood Library, which is slated to close Saturday at 5 p.m.
The library is moving to a new location at 4910 Roblin Blvd.
Those needing to return books can still do so at the old library until the new one opens mid-January.
During the closure, hold items will be sent to the St. James-Assiniboia branch at 1910 Portage Ave.
It's part of the Library Facility Redevelopment Strategy report released in 2012. It identifies libraries needing to be replaced in the city.
The other facilities slated for replacement include St. Vital/Windsor Park, Transcona, River Heights, Westwood, St. James-Assiniboia, and West Kildonan.
All eight libraries are approaching 50 years or older and require renovation and increased maintenance, or have accessibility issues.
