A busy day for Winnipeg police Monday as officers spent hours investigating reports of suspicious packages.
Shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Monday, officers were called to the area of Donald Street between Graham and St. Mary avenues.
The area was taped off to motorists and pedestrians on Donald Street between Portage and St. Mary avenues. It reopened around 3:30 p.m.
The City of Winnipeg tweeted Monday afternoon 311 call times would experience delays as its customer service centre was evacuated in connection to the investigation.
Earlier in the day, officers were called to another suspicious package report nearby.
Around 8:00 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious package in the Delta Hotel on St. Mary Avenue.
A hotel guest said the package was found in the stairwell. The hotel was evacuated.
St. Mary Avenue was temporarily closed from Hargrave Avenue to Carlton Street while police investigated Monday morning.
It reopened to traffic over the noon hour.
Police said the package was not a threat.
