Winnipeg city council has thrown its support behind a national inquiry on missing and murdered indigenous women.
The motion, spearheaded by outgoing councillor Dan Vandal, passed easily with only one member, Coun. Jeff Browaty, voting against it.
Vandal said the city needs to give a voice to the voiceless in his remarks.
Council did unanimously approve $150,000 a year in funding to expand a drop in centre for vulnerable youth.
The province is matching that amount.
