For perogy fans, one is seldom enough. But Tec Voc high school students are hoping to change that.
A group of students banded together this week to attempt a record for the world’s largest perogy.
A week’s worth of work yielded a 253 pound (114 kilogram) perogy, complete with a doughy exterior, potato interior and a dusting of green onions.
They used the school cafeteria’s two steamers, even flipping it at one point to make sure the dumpling was fully cooked.
The potato-filled whopper was made in support of Winnipeg Harvest. The students are selling pieces of the giant at their campus restaurant, Elements.
The perogy won’t take the official title of world’s biggest because the students didn’t tape themselves making it, but the students are hoping many people will stop by to sample it.
