A new report released by Statistics Canada indicates that Manitoba’s population has grown by 1.7 per cent in the last year.
The statistics come from the most recent numbers taken in July, which puts the provinces population at 1,318,128, which is up from the 1,295,981 in 2015. In 2012, the population was 1,250,265.
The report also shows that the birth rate has increased in the last five years from 15,983 to 17,372.
The numbers of deaths did not grow as much in five years, going from 10,086 to 10,676.
Immigration has also seen a steady increase: 15,087 to 17,238 in a five-year span.
