Closing arguments have wrapped up in the Treyvonne Willis murder trial.

Willis is accused in the stabbing death of Kaila Tran in a St. Vital parking lot in June 2012.

During closing submissions, the Crown reminded jurors of a video that shows Willis and a friend getting on a bus a day before Tran's death.

The Crown alleges Willis was planning to kill Tran that day but arrived too late.

"Willis discussed, measured and deliberated killing," said prosecutor Daniel Chaput.

Willis can be seen with a maroon backpack on the bus in the video.

The prosecution said that same backpack was ditched after the murder. Gloves, a bandana and a hooded shirt found inside contained Tran's blood.

Willis also confessed to police.

The jurors saw an interrogation video during the trial.

"I just told you guys I did this, I made a mistake, I deserve to go to jail for what I did," said Willis in the video.

Willis has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.

His lawyers told the jury his confession was unreliable.

They said detectives kept him in the room for hours with no food and he only said he was guilty because he wanted the lengthy interrogation to end.

The case could go to the jury for deliberations as early as Thursday morning.
