A fundraiser is planned to help the Welch family who lost their Gimli home in a blaze on New Year’s Day.
Father Greg Welch and his son Jordan were both sent to hospital with injuries.
On Jan. 3, a family spokesperson said Jordan underwent surgery for burns and is expected to remain in a medically-induced coma for one to two weeks, while Greg has a broken neck but is now listed in stable. His daughter and six others made it out safely from the fire.
The fundraiser for the family, called Tribute to the Legends, will feature musicians paying tribute to Patsy Cline, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash, along with other special appearances, additional entertainment and a silent auction.
The fundraiser will be held on Sunday Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Fraserwood Hall in Fraserwood, west of Gimli.
Tickets are $10 at the door, on a first come, first served basis, said organizers.
