The iconic sign is already gone and soon the rest of the Palomino club will disappear into history.

On Monday, demolition crews will begin tearing down the former Portage Avenue landmark.

Excavators set up next to the building Sunday. Crews have already demolished an adjacent doctor’s office and expect to take two weeks to finish the job.

The Palomino Club served its last drinks in January after more than 25 years in business -- doors opened in 1988.

EdgeCorp Developments has plans to build condos on the site. President Keith Merkel told CTV News the development will include eight handicap-accessible units.

Prices will range from $169,900 to $279,900.

The Palomino Club re-opened in the former Whiskey Dix location on Main Street and McDermot Avenue.
