Crews were busy battling two overnight fires in Elmwood.

Fire officials are investigating after a shed fire spread to a building Monday night. Crews were called to a fire on Tyne Avenue just before 11 p.m.

Officials said the fire started in a shed and spread to a nearby business. Damage is estimated at $50,000. There were no injuries.

It’s not yet known what sparked the fire.

About an hour and a half later, crews responded to a fire that damaged at least two garages. Fire officials said the blaze was well involved when they arrived on Castle Avenue just before 12:30 a.m.

The single car garage with a carport sustained $25,000 damage. The fire also caused $5,000 damage to a neighbouring garage.

No one was hurt.

Police said two teenage suspects wearing baseball caps were seen fleeing the area on bicycles folliwing the Castle Ave. fire.
