Instructions on how to be a Good Samaritan on board Winnipeg transit could be coming soon.

City Hall's safety committee is researching a proposed ad campaign directed at bus riders, offering tips for bystanders on how to help fellow passengers, or bus drivers, being harassed.

Rosalie Larcombe said if need be she would confront a problem rider.

"I would get in their face, because that's the type of person I am,” Larcombe explained.

The campaign will also advise people who intervene how to protect themselves.

One potential solution being discussed, ask other passengers to join in because there is strength in numbers.

However, some riders we talked to say the risk of dealing with an unruly and possibly violent person on board is not worth it.

The safety committee is hoping to have more information about the campaign in the fall.
