Winnipeg firefighters battled a fire on Selkirk Avenue Sunday morning.

Crews were called to the house in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue around 6:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found the house engulfed in flames.

District 24 Chief Bob Ezinicki said crews initially went on the offensive, but switched to a defensive strategy until they could bring the fire under control.

“As far as we know there was no one inside. It was a vacant building,” said Ezinicki.

Fire investigators still haven’t determined the cause of the fire.
