A 42-year-old Shamattawa man has been charged with the murder of his former girlfriend. Police found the woman, 42-yearold Lorna Kate Redhead, in her residence with serious stab wounds Saturday morning.
She succumbed to her injuries after being transported to the Shamattawa Nursing Station.
Officers arrested Isaiah Tom Miles, 42, and charged him with second degree murder and assault with a weapon.
He had been in a relationship with the victim for several years, but was under a restraining order not to have any contact with her.
Isaiah has been remanded in custody and will appear in court in Thompson on Wednesday.
The Shamattawa RCMP, with the assistance of the RCMP Serious Crime Unit, Winnipeg Major Crime Unit and Winnipeg Forensic Identification Section, continue to investigate this incident.
Shamattawa is an isolated community in northeastern Manitoba.
