Animal lovers will have the get their fill this weekend as the Assiniboine Park Zoo will temporarily close its gates for 10 days Monday, June 23.
In a statement released Friday, the zoo said the closure is to make final preparations for the a new exhibit.
“Journey to Churchill is the signature exhibit in the redevelopment of Assiniboine Park Zoo,” said APC’s chief operations officer, Don Peterkin, in the statement. “We want the Zoo looking its absolute best.
““The closure will give our animals time to acclimatize to their new surroundings and allow us to complete all the final construction details and finishing touches.”
The zoo will reopen at noon on Thursday, July 3. The new entrance at 2595 Roblin Boulevard features a welcoming plaza, a visitor services centre and new gift shop.
