A sculpture created by the father of slain school girl Candace Derksen has disappeared.

Cliff Derksen said the piece, titled Dancing David, went missing last Tuesday from its display at Frame Arts Warehouse in Winnipeg.

It was being showcased alongside other works by the Derksen family, and is based on the emotions of the trial that convicted the man accused of murdering 13-year-old Candace.

"There were so many aspects of the trial that are so emotional up and down, so I have several from the life of David and this one is about euphoria and giving praise,” said Cliff.

None of the pieces are for sale.

The Derksens say they hope the missing sculpture is just a prank, and that it will be returned soon.

Police said they have not received a report it was stolen.
