A cordial invite awaits a very special group of Manitobans.

Anyone who was born in 1926, the same year as Queen Elizabeth II, is encouraged to register for an invitation to a birthday tea on April 21.

The event will be held at Government House, at 2:30 p.m., in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The first 60 people to register will receive an invitation for themselves and a guest to join Lt.-Gov. Janice Filmon for the event; which also commemorates the Queen’s title as longest-reigning monarch in the history of Great Britain.

“On April 21, we will celebrate her 90th birthday and it seems appropriate to mark the occasion with those who share her birth year,” said Filmon in a news release.

“I look forward to celebrating those who have also experienced the passing of nine decades and have witnessed her many visits to our province.”

Those who are eligible for an invite are asked to contact the Office of the Lieutenant Governor’s at 204-945-2753 and register with name, birthdate and address, along with the name of the accompanying guest, for this special birthday party.
