Winnipeg Police responded to an early morning stabbing in the 5900 block of Betsworth Avenue on Sunday.
Officers said that at 5:10 a.m. a home invasion occurred and it resulted in a 66-year-old man being stabbed.
A 64-year-old woman sustained non-life threatening injuries before she fled to the neighbour’s home where police were called.
Police said the couple was sleeping at the time of the break-in.
According to police, both the man and woman are in stable condition.
Officers arrested a 25-year-old man for his alleged involvement in the incident.
Jonathan Isaac Plett has been charged with a sting of charges including robbery, aggravated assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.
Investigations also uncovered that the suspect broke into a garage on the Bridle Path and caused damage to a vehicle parked on Betsworth Avenue.
Several neighbours told CTV they are shocked and concerned about the incident.
