Winnipeg will not reduce 311 service, it will try to make it better.
The 311 line has been unable to consistently reach a benchmark of answering 80 per cent of calls within 30 seconds. An auditor recommended the city lower the target and eliminate overnight hours at the call centre.
But a report to the mayor’s executive policy committee rejects the auditor’s suggestions.
Instead, it outlines ways to reach the goal by rerouting transit, taxation and animal service calls.
