A new species is set to roam inside Assiniboine Park Zoo this summer.
The zoo announced it will open a new exhibit this spring featuring life-sized, animatronic dinosaurs.
Dinosaurs Alive!, presented by Artis Reit, allows visitors to experience how dinosaurs looked and moved millions of years ago, the zoo said in a news release Tuesday.
“Dinosaurs Alive! will be a prehistoric playground for people of all ages and a true adventure of science and discovery that we know our visitors from near and far are absolutely going to love,” said Gary Lunsford, head of zoological operations at the Assiniboine Park Zoo.
The exhibit will feature 15 animatronic dinosaurs from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. They will be set up along a forested trail in the northwest area of the zoo.
The exhibit will open for a limited time in May, and will be included in regular zoo admission.
