A multi-million dollar expansion at Polo Park Shopping Centre opened Wednesday morning and around 100 people lined up for the event.

The first people in line came three hours early to get the first look at the new Disney store.

Carlos Solis says he wants to buy merchandise from the movie, Frozen, for his family because he knows those items sell out quickly and can be hard to find.

The $49 million redevelopment will be home to 17 new stores.

The space will feature first-to-market retailers in Winnipeg such as Nine West, Thomas Sabo, Fossil, Watch it!  Journey’s and Saje.

The new stores will be located where the old Zellers used to be, which has now been transformed into an entire new wing of the mall.

Urban Outfitters and Anthropoligie will also be in the new wing and will open in mid-October.

Some of that space has also been used for the new H&M store, which opened last month.

Other existing retailers have relocated, renovated, and expanded as part of the project including Eddie Bauer, Guess, Mexx, Garage and Dynamite.

The Disney store will also be returning to Winnipeg for the first time in five years.

The expansion is providing more than 200 full and part-time jobs.

Polo Park is the province's largest shopping centre.
